First drive in rain, one word: sweet.
So tonight, I was heading home from the little lady's place, and it was raining. Not real hard, just enough to keep the roads wet. Quattro held up great, and didn't get a single slip. I attempted several things that I wouldn't dare attempt in my 911 in the same conditions, and the car stood its ground the entire time. I am thoroughly impressed. Can't wait to get all-seasons on there and drive it in the snow.
Best part though, was that the temperature had dropped fairly drastically (from ~75 degrees to ~60 degrees from dusk to 11pm), so the road was still warm as the rain fell. A really cool layer of fog only about 2" thick hovered directly above the road the whole way home. Watching the Xenons in that fog was just, amazing.

Tires?
After ObsessTT's rant (or was it ExTTreme) about the stock RE040s in wet weather, all of a sudden I feel like I shouldn't trust them on wet roads.

??? I question that..
Carl,
I was running the stock tires in last night's situation. This is why I'm really looking foward to playing in the snow with Pirrelli P7000's. If the car is this good with stock summer tires in the rain, can't imagine how it'll be in snow. I had no problems at all. Granted, it wasn't a torrential downpour, just a mild rain, enough to keep roads wet. I am certainly looking foward to a good hard rain to see how these tires hold up.

I shouldn't quote others, maybe they were referencing track performance...
...and I'm not likely to see a track in my future.
I too feel that the stocks are just fine for most wet conditions, but I'm still trying to find the right place at the right time to see if the adhesion is acceptable at limit. I.e., A rainy day at my favorite hair-pin interchange @ 50mph... So until then I'm still guessing.
