First Gear Engagement Problem

I sometimes have problems engaging first gear in my 180TTR (I always shift to neutral when stopped at a light). Any suggestions, or is this normal until the tranny breaks in (I have less than 1K miles)?

I had the same problem in my 180TTFWD. I'm at 1600 miles, and I broke it in nicely, not overdoing the RPM etc., and the gears are great now, smooth as silk. I think it's coz of break in time. I don't think you should force it, it naturally wears down to the amount needed for smooth shifts.

i have posted the same problem , now have 11oo miles and still have exactly the same grind. if its not better at 5000 i hope it can be adjusted. I think the clutch is the weak link in the car.this is why i am pushing to have the new 4 year warranty include the 2000 mod.

I had this prob at 7000 miles. Different weight of gear oil fixed it. See your dealer, they are,

or at least the Audi Techline they will be talking to, are familiar with this issue on FWD TT's.
