Fot all of you looking for MkI control arms, a note from Martyn - UK (PS be sure to read the end.)
I've looked into this and made a few enquiries, what I found out was:
If I try to order the "MK1" parts through Audi's computer system, I'm
politely told that I have to order the MK2 parts instead. The MK1 parts
are no longer order-able...only MK2 parts are available through Audi
main dealers.
So, if the Mk1 parts are being sold in Germany, it must be either:
a) from a non genuine parts source, or
b) maybe someone, somewhere bought all the stocks of Mk1 parts and is
now selling them..?? cannot believe this to be the case, but, hey you
never know!!!
c) a German tuning company is making either "performance" ones or has
copied the original ones..
The part numbers for the Mark 1 arms were:
8N0 407 151A for the left hand side
8N0 407 152A for the right hand side
Also according to my imformation, the "modified" anti-sway bar is 20mm
in diameter as opposed to the mk1 bar which was 19mm. This seems to be
the direct opposite of what was written in the forum post????
In the UK, we call these things "Track control arms - or wishbones".
These being sold in Germany is a new one on me??????
Today is my last working day over here, we're now closed until January
3rd. No doubt I'll surf on through all the forums over christmas! So
I'll probably "catch-up" with you on the net somewhere...
Have a great Christmas Jeff. Thank you very much for your business this
year and all of the US forum guys. It's been good fun.. here's to next
year and the new 3.2 V6 twin turbo 7speed TT thats due for release in
March !!
Take care
Martyn
ps, sorry, the 3.2 ltr TT isn't true :-(

heh, I like his little addition..
the '7 speed' part. 6spd is right on the border IMHO as "too much", but not quite over the line. (Don't get me wrong, I love my 6 speed tranny, its perfect, but *almost* too much). A 7 speed would just be downright ludicrous.
Speaking of which, has there ever been a road car (not a semi truck or some other strange transport thing, I'm talking a regular day-to-day car) that has gone beyond 6 gears on a manual tranny?
