Default G-Tech Questions

Here's one to throw out to this group. Does anyone have any experience with a G-Tech? Good-Bad-Indifferent? I am considering purchasing one especially to do performance tests on my TTR after APR chip install. How accurate are these things and are they worth the $$$? Does anybody have any real tests on 1/4mi. and 0-60 times after chip mods?

Default I have one and I have not used it on my TTR but I will say this...

it is a great bench mark tool in order to see if the mods you are installing are doing anything.

Just get a new open element intake system? Before you install it, go make a base run and take note, then install the kit and do another run....did you get any improvement?

The G-Tech is not a replacement for a dyno nor is it designed to tell you *exactly* what you might run in the 1/4 mi.

That being said, I ran my old car (1998 supercharged VR6 Cabrio) on my G-Tech on the 1/4 mile function and came up with a 14.6.....ran at the track a few weeks later..... I ran an actual 14.7....to me, for the $$$ spent, it is a great product.

IMO - only good for before/after on same car - not for comparison to others...

Default Just like . . .

any tool, good if sound methods are used. I use one for mod comparisons (three runs and average) - the "butt dyno" will lie to you (you know the syndrome "I paid $xxxxx for this, it must be good!)

Recently installed cat-back system and didn't like it (seems ricey) but tests show measure-able improvement. It stays.

A few dyno runs (if available - no dyno with in 200 miles of me that I know of) will cost more than the G Tech.

Have fun, be safe . . .

Default A lot of the Lightning folks (after our group buy) took the unit to the strip to compare with the

timing slips. They proved to be incredibly accurate in 1/4 time - within 1/10th second of the official timing. The speed was always a few miles an hour too high. For example 104 through the traps - 108 on the G-Tech. I BTW, have never used mine, and would consider selling it if you get interested, and cannot find a group buy.
