gas mileage II
average reading after 1100 miles
28.5 MPG indicated; 26.3 MPG actual
the expansion coefficient for gasoline is about 0.1%/°C if the indicator is correct then the gas through the injectors is running about 150°F hotter that when pumped at the filling station. Sound plausible? Both the air mass flow & the A/F ratio by mass are measured. The display should be MPG @ STP, unless the desire is to show inflated numbers.
P.S. PorTTland do you have any real data?

My actual and diplayed are very, very close...
My first 1000 miles were off a little, I think because the first fill up, break in, what ever. I suspect Audi comepensated for fuel density when calculating the fuel flow.

Typical experience...
Just got gas today...
Put in 8.197 gallons, drove 195.5 miles
Calculated: 23.9 MPG
Trip Computer Average: 25.8 MPG
I suspect the difference comes from idle time; I'm not sure how the trip computer averages in the fuel used idling (e.g. stuck in traffic)...
