Gas Problem
Have been following the forums for some time, but this is a first post.
I have an '01 180QC that has recently acquired a habit of smelling like gasoline. It comes and goes, and looking under the car, I have noticed that every now and then, there is drippage from the skid plate below what I'll assume is the gas tank - next to the right rear tire. I thought perhaps it was a break in the fuel line, but at my 10K service, the dealer could not find the problem, and even pressure-checked the hoses. (FYI I'm now at 13.8K)
The only aftermarket part on my car is a Forge DV, which I cannot imagine to be contributing to this problem.
The interior has been smelling like gas lately too, and I'm not sure if this is just wafting in or actively being pushed in through the circulation system.
Has anyone heard of or dealt with such a problem before? I will be taking my car to the dealer shortly but since they couldn't isolate the problem the first time, I'd like to walk in a bit more educated.
Thanks.
Tell them to look under the passenger's rear tire and they will see gas stains where the FSU is. My dealer said that most dealers don't catch the problem because there aren't many signs to show that it is happening.
