Gas tank sensor problem

I've filled up my gas tank twice and on both occasions the same problem occured. The gas meter or whatever you call it doesn't show a full tank, but instead the needle stops somewhere between 3/4 and full. Has anyone else had this problem before? I'm planning on reporting it to my dealer but before i visit the Audi service again(i'm sick and tired of it since my A3 days) i would like to know if maybe someone has an answer.

Happend to me on my B5 TDI.......did you

While filling her up, leave the key in the on position?

I always take the key out while filling up.

My STI had same problem, I know it's not AUDI but the dealer replaced the in tank indicator unit to

fix the problem.

Spoke to them today, they'll do the same thing. I was just curious if anyone encountered the same problem on an Audi B7(thought maybe it had an extra, smaller, fuel tank like Diesels which i didn't fill or something).

Mine is a similar yet different weird behaviour whereby after a refuel (with ignition off), the needle will reach the 3/4 position and take its own sweet time to reach the 1/1 position. As such, same with the fuel mileage indicator on the trip info display which will be at 520km upon refuel and slowly rise to 580km in the slowest fashion. I don't know if this is an early sign or warning of an imminent problem similar to yours. It's been like that since day 1 though.
