Default Gonna need the experts help on this one.......

This problem started about a week ago at H20. When I am at at WOT in 5th or 6th gear at around 20-22 PSI my car will lose power. The wierd thing is that the boost seems constant but acceleration slows and RPM's drop.

It is exactly what it feels like when a clutch is slipping however, my RPM's DROP instead of rapidly increasing.

Background info:

Just lubed DV, but checked and it seems to be all tight and proper

ESP light is on, but has been for months without issue. I scaned and it is one of the LAT Sensors.

I dont have access to a vag com for another couple weeks so I'm just throwing this out there.

Default Come on.....I'm gonna need more than that......>

Why do you say that? I boost 'hard and heavy'(laugh with me here) and hold power in 1st and 2nd

Default There's no load (little anyway) on the car in first and second....

Most fueling related issues show up under high load (upper gears, lottsa boost)

Unplug the MAF and see how it runs..

Default classic symptoms >

of maf failure - a <stuttering> loss of power at wot (or at certain rpms under full load - analogous to your comment re the clutch - i admit i inferred...). Have you considered it, and/or why would you dismiss it?

Default Slightly derailing: MAF used only in closed loop?

Someone told me this, but I consider it unconfirmed.

Once in open loop, car mainly relies on MAP?

My MAF went bad about a month ago, I've been giving it a go sans MAF, and other than a slightly unsteady idle, I haven't seen any problems.

Default Well...(update)...>

When you unplug the MAF the car runs on prebuilt fuel maps that are safe approximations.

Full sensor input is needed for Most efficient running, but they'll do just fine with no MAF and if the car runs better or the symptoms go away it can isolate a MAF issue..Based on this I have to assume the MAF is in play in open loop as well..G/Sec output is always calculated and factored unless the MAF is disconnected

Heck, I think half the VW's on that other forum run without MAF's cause they always have so many "issues"......:-)

Default yeah... uhh... thats sorta me... ; )

Didn't really see a decrease in fuel mileage with MAF unplugged, but that could simply be that the MAF has slowly been going downhill for some time, and the change was slow enough it never caught my attention.

Bunch of stupid things have been showing up with the car lately, and at a time where I (financially) can't jump right on them.

Found 1 of the 2 screw that hold the temp sensor housing to the block was MISSING yesterday. Had a plastic coolant fitting fall apart in my hands while trying to remove the sensor housing. How I hadn't already lost all my coolant on the road (undoubtedly in the middle of nowhere) totally astounds me. Easy/cheap fixes, just took a while since I was doing it in the dark in the parkinglot outside work.

I did manage to crack a chunk out of the coldsaw blade when I was making my new (stainless) coolant fitting. fun fun
