Got my spark plugs! Question about my first upcoming plug install...
First, let it be known, the MAF will go in first and I will drive a few days, take new VAG reading and ensure everything is operational before I do the plugs...
So, this is my first automotive spark plug install. I haven't owned a single car long enough that needed them replaced, and am doing this one as it's approaching 35,000 miles, and it makes me feel better doing it.
I purchased the NGK OEM TT plugs from ECS Tuning, and it looks like they come pre-gapped. A friend is bringing in his gapping tool so I can ensure it's correct, but on the side of the box it states to NOT adjust the gap. I'm guessing these come pre-gapped for my vehicle?
Second, do you all follow the torque recommendations for the spark plug installs? Or do you just tighten it until it's tight, but not too tight? (e.g. on the box, it states to finger-turn until it's seated, then tighten with a wrench and spark plug socket 1/2 - 2/3 turns).
Third, I assume you only clean outside of the spark plug socket BEFORE you take out the plug...and not physically inside the socket near the cylinder...
And fourth...do you disconnect your battery?
Thanks much
My replacement MAF comes Thursday! Whoopee!!

If you don't know already, you can check Jeff Bipes' site for how to remove the coilpacks.>>
As for plugs you can't reach to finger tighten them. You'll need a spark plugs socket and wrench extension to remove them and install new ones.
My BKR7E's came gapped at .034. The BKR6's I pulled were gapped at like .030 (probly shrunk from age) but it should be .032 stock.
For tightening, I used a torque wrench since the torque spec is pretty important on plugs. 22 ft-lbs for the plugs 7 ft-lbs for the coilpacks.

http://mk1tt.montebellopark.com/coilpak.html</a
