Gotta love the folks in the neighborhood.....
Washing the car out front earlier today, a semi-homeless looking guy comes up and starts asking all kinds of questions about the car then is like, "Cool, man....bet it goes really fast.....right on....hey, man, can I get 50 cents?..."
Then, after I was done washing it, I pull it around the back to put it in the garage, and as I'm getting out, a different guy walking up the alley tells me, "Nice Corvette, man!"....I told him it wasn't a Corvette, and he's like, "You sure, man? Cause it sure looks like one.....You better check on that.....by the way, you got a dollar?"......

LOL, I had a guy come up to me today asking for "scrap" while I was cleaning out the garage
as he carted around a grocery cart. I told him no metal but I have some scrap wood with a smile, he laughed and continued walking
There is a bus route pretty close to my house, so that is usually the reason for the $1... I actually keep 2-3 bus tickets in my garage just in case they need a ride

I live in the middle of the city of St. Louis in an area....
That is a combo of brand new construction townhomes and rehabbed buildings that are lofts\condos. Lots of that going on around here. The rough part/ghetto is still only 2 blocks north, so a lot of poorer folks still come walking by.

Sounds just like my place, ghetto area is about 6-8 blocks away
my place is between 2 large bus lines though, so I get some people walking past. Never had an issue though besides someone stealing a registration sticker off my girlfriends car parked outside. Been here almost 5 years.
