Default GPS CD-ROMs

Hi guyes & gals,
I'm looking at ordering a UK-spec TT Roadster, but am interested in the GPS system (not available in the UK). I can order a car from Europe (saving a few thousand quid in the process), where GPS *is* listed as an option. My question is: what sort of area does the CD cover? The scanned-in manual photos (thanks, sorry that I can't remember your "handle") suggests that the C is regional - how regional is that? Would it cover the whole of Europe, or just one/two countries? Does anyone here know the answer, please?

Cheers,

Ian

Default I have a Garmin GPSIII Plus. $349US + Roads and Recreation CD $99US. Bean Bag mount for TT: $25.00

Driving without a talking car? Priceless.

The Roads and Rec CD includes all of the US, there is another version for the entire rest of the world, I think. (We have a lot more roads than the rest of the world, I guess.) I get street level mapping, restaurants, landmarks, highway exits.

For those of you that don't see the MasterCard commercials I am spoofing, I think you get my point anyway.

How much is that navigation system? Are you looking forward to being talked to? It would creep me out, although I think it is cool technology.

Just offering an alternative.

Ivan

I agree - I have the Streepilot (£400) and the UK maps are some of the best I have seen

Default There's a coincidence..

Funnily enough, I've got a GPS III+ as well .. although at the usual $1 = £1 rate! Where do you put it on the TT? On my BMW, it is happy to sit on the dash on the built-in mat (although it tends to move around if you get .. enthusiastic).

I had visions about it disappearing through the rear wind deflector a soon as I hit the gas..
