Default more diagnostics run...

Used vagcom output tests within block 22 (AWD) to cycle the haldex electric precharge pump as well as engagement and disengagement of the haldex clutch while pumping. Pump is quite audible while running and change of load on the pump is apparent (by tone) when the clutch status changes. This leads me to think that the pump is working. Since it changed tone I assume the clutch is engaging.

The question is: If I can manually engage the clutch and operate the pump, why would the controller not be able to do this under normal operating conditions?

Default It could be something as simple as...>>

a bad brake light switch (common failure). Remember, activation of that switch turns Haldex off. Check and see if your cruise is working as well as tail lights. Heck, for <$15 just change it!

Default everything seems to be working in that department

CC has never missed a beat,
no history of brake light problems,
e-brake switch activates it's switch as expected,

these were all verified through VAGCOM as well.

The only odd thing I observed while checking blocks was that sitting in my garage with the car off the lateral acceleration sensor thought I was executing s slow right hand turn (1 deg/sec). I chalked this up to non-level install of the gauge, as I believe my garage is fairly flat.

I will probably order the light switch tonight anyway.

Default Conclusion

Swapped in a known working controller. Problem solved, car passes all of the diagnostic tests, no new codes. Now it's time to upgrade, orange controller will be shipped out Monday, just in time for Buttonwillow. Thanks everybody!
