Here in Turkey we have only New Year .......( cont.)
celebration. Dec. 31st and 1st of Jan. no work here. Naturally, Dec. 25 has no impact here except for Cristian people. But they are very few.
Dec. 31st is a real celebration here.We have also same trees like yours but they are New Year trees. Also we have same person here who is called Noel Baba. ( Noel Daddy )Guess who ? He is famous Mr. Santa Claus ! He is believed that he was born in South of Turkey ( Demre.)This place attracts many tourists.
I have to say that this New Year Celebration generally takes place in cities. People living other then cities generally do not interested in New Year. In these days we have also Ramadan here. This is the month you know people with strong belief does not eat from dawn to sun set.And at the end of Ramadan there is a 4 days of Holiday which takes place coincidencely at the same days with New Year. ( beginning of Ramadan slides and changes every year.) And with a very happy smile on my face ! I can say that totaly We have 11 days of holiday this year.
Dear Friend, I think I exaggerated my answer a little bit. :-) I hope I could give you some idea.
But besides everything, our TT's are very nice cars aren't day? Wish you a Merry Chrismas and very healthy, happy 2001. Levent Antalya-Turkey.
