Default Has anyone done a carbon fiber hood that WORKS? Any with RED carbon fiber?

I know someone here has tried like 2/3 hoods and none fit right so I am curious as to if someone ever found one that did!

I am just fed up with the rock chip, and from phone estimates it's going to cost another 500 just to paint the hood THIS SUCKS!

Mod Fairy you can't make me a hood out of RED carbon fiber can you? LOL ;o) j/k it would be out of my price range im sure.

Default but even with a CF hood, aren't they clear coated? and won't they chip the same as paint?

I personally don't know, but its an interesting thought. If you look at lobstters TT, I think he stated that the hood and fenders were from riso and they were both carbon fiber, so they must be coming out soon.

Default Works?...

<center><img src="http://images10.fotki.com/v191/photos/1/115873/432944/365-vi.jpg"></center><p>CF doesn't mean no care and indestructable. Still will have care issues.

I suppose you could find someone to do it in red CF, but I have to say most of the CF hoods I've seen were not worth putting on our TTs.

I had one done (complete CF) by OSIRdesign fit and finish were excellent, but I still painted the top, and left the bottom exposed but you can't really see it well in the picture.

Default Im sure they will chip, and what not but my point is

if I am going to pay another 400 to get something painted, I might as well see if there is a company out there willing to do a red carbon hood. Something uncommon

Default i would hook you up with whatever carbon weave you want but...

no plans for a carbon fiber hood -- they're already very light

email osirdesign, they'll probably hook you up... it will be $$$ though

Default Gotcha ! :) I am assuming to take on a project of DIYS

would be a MAJOR PAIN IN THE ***! Even with someone who knew what they were doing (not me)

heh... how much is a sheet of red carbon? Might be interesting to do a speaker box in! :X

Default One other question... I am not familiar with c/fiber so excuse my ignorance

I wanted to change my side bolsters in my seat with that of suede or red leather. Can c/fiber be used as a fabric type as well? Or strictly that of a fabric needed to be layered with resin and set? Just curious NEVER dealt with it.
