Default Heavy, Heavy Water Spots

I woke up to find that the local apartment sprinkler system here in Savannah, GA, had doused my car for an hour or so during the night. That water is nasty, hard, most likely from a well, toxic polluted stuff. My car has waterspots on it that you can FEEL now. Against hope, I went immediately and had it washed, but alas they are there seemingly forever now.

What can I do? The people at the car wash said they coudl do some kind of double wax or something to get it out (about $55), but I want to know what they are talking about if you guys know, or if you have a better solution.

I would post a pic, but no digital camera at the moment. Just picture this: Top to bottom, both sides, front to back: nasty-*** water spots.

Default search the detailing forum>>

but a good thing to try is vinegar...so soak some paper towels in vinegar and let them sit on the spots for a few minutes..that should take them off...then wash and rewax. hope that helps.

Default White Vinegar soak and bath... should help desolve/remove most of it

had the same thing happen and it removed 98% of them

the stupid car wash wax crap will not get them out! It will just temporarily cover them up.

you might have to have a pro-detailer buff them out if the vinegar leaves any leftovers.

oh and you'll need to rewax!

But do NOT wipe with the paper towels, much too rough.

Default give the vinegar a try since you probably already have some...

if that doesn't do it then claybar almost certainly will, if that doesn't then you're going to need to polish. Probably something like Menzerna Final Polish or 3M SMR.

With what polish? Unless it's etched down to metal you can always polish it out.

Default Options if vinegar doesn't work...

1. One Grand Special Touch cleaner

2. Wash, claybar, wash, Menzerna Intensive Polish (if they are REALLY BAD), Menzerna Final Polish. This goes easier with a DA polisher like the Porter Cable.

Default Re: Heavy, Heavy Water Spots

Thanks, I'll pick up some good cloth and do the vinegar thing. I really hope that works.
