Help...Dancing Gauges
My car has 900 miles on it. I noticed the fuel gauge moving when I pulled in the garage tonight. While driving it was on 1/2 tank. In the garage at idle it was shifting between 1/2 and 1 tick mark less continuously for several minutes. The Miles to Empty calculation was also changing up and down while this was happening. The Temp gauge was moving from the middle tick to 1 tick more towards hot. After several minutes of movement it moved back to center and I shut the engine off. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes? I noticed this several times. Outside temp was 55*. Thanks.

My temp gauge does some moving around at idle...
though I've seen it move up a tick while the actual coolant temp (monitored via climate control diagnosic mode) stays the same. As for the other gauges, it sounds like a instrument cluster going bad. Sorry to hear that.

Parts have to come from Hungary it seems. So while you're waiting, be real sure to keep an eye on coolant level as you'll have no overheat warnings. Also get used to tanking regularly and zeroing the trip counter every time you fill, as flaming out on the freeway is no fun.
Perhaps you might like to let the forum know how long your new cluster takes to arrive. I've been waiting 3 weeks for mine.

My temp gauge jumps around, they replaced it and the sensors a while ago..
still does the same thing.
I got a check engine light 2 days ago so I am taking it in soon to get it checked.
I'll email you so we can keep in touch, if they find a fix for mine I'll tell you and vise versa.

I've been waiting more than 6 months for a new instrument cluster. :(
And the problem was right after I picked it up, couldn't adjust the day/time as the little **** just would not work. Dealer concurred and ordered a new cluster as per Audi recommendation... still has not arrived. I keep checking with the dealer every few weeks. And it's not that it's a major problem, so I have not been pressuring them. My 10K service is coming up, so I am going to find out what the status is then.
