Default help! more strange noises! ARRGH!

This just started a few days ago and it is driving me nuts!

Occasionally when I cold start the car, for about 15 seconds I'll hear a muffled knocking or clunking sound - like "wrr=clunk=rrr=clunk=rrrclunk=rrrclunk=rrr=clu nk=" - coming right under the pass. side dash

(I've scrambled several times to look under that area expecting to see a mini GoBot karate choping my car)

Tonight, it happened again - but I didn't turn the engine, just the ignition

It doesn't last long enough to be the secondary air pump - and the engine's not on, so - any ideas?!

(Poss? recent maint work - new battery, oil change/filter and (to my fortune) guys had to tighten up the pass. side outer tire rod b/c it was coming loose)

TIA!

Tree-Fiddy? Or does that not apply to this question?

That's what I was thinking. Or a faulty blend door.

Default Nope - it's off, but the sound is certainly "mini-motorish"

If the HVAC is off - would the motor still try to run (perhaps a setting stage?)

Got the noise to repeat a few times last night - each time I tried to touch the under dash to "feel" a source - and one time stuck my head under the hood.

The sound is certainly coming from inside the dash on the pass. side.

I'm not familiar with HVAC trouble shooting - but think this test will help? HVAC Method

Default that test only allows you to see engine temp on that block>>>>

if it is coming from under the dash on the passenger side, i would lean towards the AC unit/HVAC......if you can recreate the sound, try sitting in the passenger seat and turn on the ignition...maybe sitting closer to it may help to locate the sound....IMO

If the HVAC is working fine...there may be nothing you can do, although i seem to remember someone posting about lubricating the internal flap there.....just do not have the link...
