Help....water question
We had some heavy rain here today and whilst driving down a major road, there was a deep section of water where everyone was rolling through at approx. walking speed. I proceeded to do the same, however upon passing it, I felt as though the car was about to stall. As I continued driving, the car felt as though the clutch was slipping in first gear when pulling away from a standstill. It continued to do so for a little while after which it was fine (and has been since). Is this bad? I am worried if anything critical got submerged whilst going through the puddle and water got in somewhere - hence the slippage? Any thoughts?

I think you analysis is correct: clutch got wet then dried out.
I doubt you did any damage. Cars are designed to get very wet underneath. Did you notice your brakes were not very effective right after the swim? They dried out also.
Even at walking speed in deep water lots of it flows up around the engine, etc. It's not a real good idea to make a habit of this. If your car does stall in the "puddle" you'll need a tow, and if the puddle gets deeper....
Where in Detroit area are you?

Thanks for the info Jon - I work downtown but live over on the Eastside. Do you live in the area? My only worry is that could any water still be stuck inside the clutch housing? Or does it just drain back out?

Lived in the area in the 60's, but just visit now. We used to cruise Woodward and...
Telegraph in (company) muscle cars (I'm old!).
My wife is from the Warren Ave. & Southfield x-way area. (Favorite oxymoronic road sign: "TO NORTHBOUND SOUTHFIELD")
Water will drain out. Not to worry.
You could try a couple of 6000 rpm launches. That should dry it out!
