Hemi Jeep gets owned
Well the controversy is over, at least for me, yes I know the TT that lost in the test on the Jeep commercial was an AT6, but a friend traded in his 2k Grand Cherokee for the hemi powered Limited, and of course his plans were to stomp my behind, not knowing any better.
82 degree weather, off the line 0 to about sixty with a hard launch, I pulled a car and a half just off the line. The hemi stayed close in my second and early third, but still losing ground.
I calculate I was about 2 1/2 lengths in front by sixty.
We also started on a roll from about 60 and by the time I hit fourth I wasn't walking, I was running away.
He thought the TT was V-6 powered and was shocked his 5.7L V8 was tumbled by a 4 cylinder with almost 4 liters less capacity (no apparent concept of the magic of forced induction).
BTW off the line he loaded the torque converter with the brakes and actually released a split second before my clutch drop, so this was no unfair fight.

see, now that's why commercials like that **** me off...
because now every jack *** in a jeep is going to try to race me at stop lights. When I used o drive my 300ZX every damn honda or cavaleir with a muffler would try to race me. It got really annoying when i was just going about my daily business. All well, bring on the jeeps!

Jeep was on my tail this AM ...
... and an old Wrangler at that! Lost him at a light only to have him give chase again. Then I lost him for good in the twisties -- all without trying really hard. Seems the ads give Jeep owners unwarranted confidence. What's really awful is that those hi-ctr of grav vehicles really don't have any place trying to chase us around -- it's not just laughable, it's actually dangerous and irresponsible.
Admittedly, I haven't seen the ads, but everyone is asking me about them. At first the "is that a hemi" ads seemed to ridicule the idiots who drag at lights -- now they encourage? It's awful.

Tragic Jeep story. what were they doing? Why couldn't they get out?
Rafael Miranda said he saw the Jeep go off the road and into the water. He grabbed a flashlight and ran to the vehicle, banging on its roof and windows as he attempted to free the victims.

Jeep Story

Re: Hemi Jeep gets owned
My wife has the Jeep Liberty and when I'm driving it there is no way that I would do any of the curves at anywhere near the speeds that are comfortable in the TT. It's the '02 3.7 ltr. V6 so there's ample power on the freeway, but I couldn't imagine the added power with the same center of gravity being safe chasing me around on Skyline Blvd. in the Oakland hills.
