HID Problem/Driver's Side Only
I am hoping someone here can shed some light on my problem (no pun intended). The driver's side headlight does not come on sometimes. The Dealer has tried the headlight switch, the bulb and the ballast/igniter. However the problem still re-occurs. I keep think it's a loose connection(because the problem is intermittant), but they can't seem to find it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

My brother's S3 (Xenon-equipped) had a similar problem.
Light would suddenly go off or would not turn on at all. This involved only the driver's side Xenon. Dealer replaced the whole light cluster, but I quess it was the starter that was faulty. Never happened again since that day. If you say your dealer replaced the bumb and starter, then indeed it sounds like a loose connection.
If I were you I'd suggest you have the dealer change the whole cluster and not just each component seperately.

I think its a low battery...... because....
Some Ballast are very sensitive to power. It takes quite a bit of power to fire the hids up. Ones ignited they use very little power. Try charging up your battery and see if it helps. This is a common problem with HID systems. Do you have a aftermarket Sterio with hi-power amps?
I have seen this before and it could be one of your ballast has a longer restart switch.
Next time when it does it do this....
Make sure the car is running for a few seconds, then turn on your hids. If only one light comes on, turn your light off for 10 seconds and then turn them on and see if both ballast fire up. If this doesnt work email me and I have a few other ideas. I think your battery is on its way out and this is the cause of your problem. Good luck.

Thanks for the response Mystro. I don't have any aftermarket stuff. My car is a completely bone stock, 4 month old 2002 225QC. I tried the turning on and off of the lights and it doesn't work (i.e. only one comes on). However, If I drive around for a few minutes and try it again, they both come on. This is the reason I am leaning towards the wiring, because it seems to be intermittant. Also, my other theory is heat (car warms up?. Although, the last time they changed the ballast, it was because it was completely out (finally just gave out permanently). Any other ideas would be appreciated.

That's what I am suggesting next, but they gave me the whole, we can't just oder parts without diagnosing the problem routine. I respect that, but my problem is that they can't seem to diagnose the source. So I am going to push today to just order the whole cluster. I've been patient, but I think it's time to be a bit more assertive with the dealer. If you can think of anything else, let me know. I really appreciate everyone's help.
