have you plumbed it back into the intake or do you have it blowing off
into the atmosphere?
If you are blowing it off into the atmosphere, than yes, you are slowly damaging the car by running it rich, possibly coating the valves with deposits, killing your power and also maybe destroying the catalytic converter....
If you bought a kit from ECS or equivalent, what they wont tell you is this, in order to keep the BOV from setting of a CEL, they have the threshholds set a little aggressive, which means instead of releasing the excess boost, it releases just enough to make the *Psssshhhhh* sound but not enough to really relieve the turbo of damaging back pressure.
A BOV is simply not designed for the 1.8T motor, unless you are running a stand alone engine management that can accomodate this feature.
"But it works on my car and many others without problems"
Yeah, well hydraulics also work on a car, that does not mean that it is good for the car or recommended.
