Default Hmmm... DVs + altitude = fewer problems due to less boost?

It occurred to me while responding to another thread that the reason neither of my local dealers have seen a vehicle with a bad DV may be because of altitude.

Simply put, turbos create less boost at altitude because the air is thinner. I remember this from my '89 Ford Probe GT, as the boost gauge would just about pin itself at the top end when I drove it in California but would only make it a little above half way up the scale when I got it to Colorado.

Could it be that the lower boost produced at altitude is why DV problems seem rare here as compared to those of you nearer sea level?

Default Same boost at altitude, my man...

I don't have time to explain. OK, yes I do:

Your Audi has an absolute pressure turbo, which will provide the same performance at altitude as it would at sea level. This is why they use turbochargers in airplane engines (maintain performance way up there)....

There are some relative pressure designs that provide less performance at high altitudes, but your Audi isn't of that design.<p>-EJS, 2001 225TTC, Silver/Black
