They replied:
"Thanks for your email. You can certainly use 100 octane fuel in your TT, you would see a great improvement in performance.Sincerely, Joe Hoppen Motorsport"
That sounds like an endorsement. I may be taking a trip up to the Sunoco very soon!

You should ask what octane rating their program uses....
of course you can use 100 oct in your car, as a matter of fact, you can use 103 too. However, I'm pretty sure that their program is only rated at a RON 98 (research octane number), which is equivalent to approximately 93-94 ron+mon/2 (aki), with a minimum of 91 oct.

You can use 100 in any car . . .
My parents had an old Mazda many years ago. I had 10 gallons of 100 and 5 gallons of 110 race fuel I used in my race car. Since the season was over and I couldn't exactly save the fuel I decided to use it in the Mazda!
All I have to say is the car felt as though it doubled in hp using the 100. Putting in the 110 was a bit much for the car to take. lol
What's my point? Any car can run any fuel, it comes down to how efficiently the car can use that fuel. What Hoppen told you was, yes you can run 100 in the car with your chip . . . but you need to read what he didn't tell you. He never mentioned the chip is specifically programmed for the 100. That is a HUGE difference.
APR has a specific 100 chip, that chip will take into account the added octane and adjust the combustion process accordingly. MTM in all likelyhood is not doing this with their "all-in-one" chip.
Ask them a specific question such as, "Does your chip have different fuel mappings dependant upon the octane of the fuel being used?" They will HAVE to answer no. The ECU is not an autosensing thing. It will only know what it is programmed for.
This is why you can't do a dyno run using 100 and run on a 93 program and say it is a 93 run. In reality it is not.
Just pointing this out is all. Not slamming anyone at all... promise.

I know that. I'm trying to get at whether they have a 100 octane map...
...and I guess I just didn't ask it right. I've sent them a response with a more explicit question.

It will always be quicker with 100 octane...
I had an MTM in my old S4, and it was certainly quicker with 100 octane.
This is the deal, the chip is programmed to boost well over 1 bar, but when you do that, 90% of the time (lots of heat is generated) the timing gets retarded because of the fuel grade causing detonation, by using a higher octane, the timing in more advanced, and allows more power to be developed.
I think the APR 100 octane specific will create a bit more power using the higher grade, but the difference won't be that great.

So to access the 100 MAP the ECU does this how? Automatically?
I mean - sure you may be able to get a MTM 100 chip but do you have to swap chips everytime you want to take full advantage of 100 octane? What good is it even if they have a 100 octane chip - I mean in a realistic I can use this anytime I want feature.
