HoTTub or others with 18x10" wheels
About to place an order for some RH wheels and want to make sure I'm not in for a nightmare.
18 x 8.5 front
18 x 10 rear
from what I have read 25mm and 15mm adaptors
also going to lower it aprox 1.5"
So I guess my main concern is how much if any will the rear tires stick out of the wheel wells and are there rubbing issues clearance I need to know about up front?
what rubber/size did you go with?
Thanks for any and all help

most seem to use 25mm all around with the staggered RH wheel set
up. Anything less in the rear will cause rubbing. Think you might have an option on the fronts...might be able to so 20mm.

I also have those wheels, some answers...
Where are you buying the wheels? I would not recommend getting them from Autostyles (rhwheels.com). They charged my card the day I ordered the wheels and didn't ship them until 10 days later. And when they did finally arrive, I only got 3 of them! The 4th wheel arrived yet another week later, and it turned out that wheel had a pinhole leak (yes, the WHEEL had a leak, not the tire). So I had to send it back to the manufacturer. In a nutshell, it's been about 6 weeks since I paid for the wheels and I still have only 3! On top of that, they charged me TWICE for shipping the 4th wheel, and they still haven't credited my account for that error (though they promised they would do it about a week ago). They will be very nice to you on the phone and very polite, but they never return calls if there's a problem.
The adapters that shipped with mine were 25mm front and rear. This should work fine with the stock brakes. Unfortunately, I have Stoptech brakes so I had to special order a 30mm spacer/adapter for the fronts. Actually it looks better with the 30mm spacer, since the fronts are now closer to the fender edge (like the rear)...they don't stick out beyond the fender edge in the rear, BTW.
As far as lowering, I'm about 1" lower than stock (Eibachs/Bilstein sports). Clearance is not much of an issue, though the inboard side of the tires are very close to the shock body in the rear. I'm running 225/40/18 front, 255/35/18 rear. Could actually go a bit wider up front now, since I have the 30mm spacer.
Bottom line: expect delays/problems and you won't be disappointed. If I could do it over again, I probably would have just ordered custom wheels (i.e. Kinesis or Fiske) in the 18x10 and 18x8.5 sizes with the proper offsets so I wouldn't need spacers...I got the RH's because I thought it would be less hassle...ha!
Good luck,

that is correct. wouldn't bother trying 20mm up front...
even if it the tires didn't rub, the wheel would be set in too far from the fender edge and it would probably look pretty lame.

i've actually been pretty lucky up to this point...
Between the TT, the A6, and my old A4, I've spent about $15K in mods over the past few years and this is really the first time I've had a problem worth mentioning. These wheels were a bit of a 'impulse' purchase...didn't really do my homework as I probably should have. Oh well...I should have the replaced wheel back from the manufacturer in another week, and god willing, that will be the end of the saga.
