Default How much hp/tq you think I got ? 3.2. light mods

Hi, I've had my 04 3.2 TT for 15 months and this is what I've done:
VTDA
Had muffler shop cut off "pancake pipe" on exhaust and add 2 1/4 pipe instead.
Just did flapper mod.

How much HP you think I added? Would a Miltek add alot more hp? Can't even find a cheap chip/flash for an 04.

I also have done Koni FSD's, lots of maintenance, 10" sub, rear slotted rotors and At Itialia wheels. Any suggestions on a next mod? Is there really only a 1K$ exhaust upgrade?

Default Not much more....>>

On a naturally aspirated motor those mods may be good for 10hp. Chip it and put a decent catback on there for maybe 15-20 more..
It takes hardware to improve on NA motors...Headers, cams etc. Turbo cars are cheap and easy to improve in comparison..

Default Close to stock. Free exhaust might increase HP, but gives up a bit if tQ.

- Software (Revo: 250>262hp, 236>248tQ)
- lighter rims than the AT (best accleration mod ever)
- better front rotors: the rears are not helping you as much as a better set of fronts would
- 22mm RSB

Default You probably gained enough weight with the Italias to more than offset your meager power gains.

That's actually where an aftermarket exhaust can really help, the stock exhaust is a bit heavy (on the 225 at least, with the flapper & whatnot I would imagine the 3.2 is worse).

Default $1500 for 5-10 hp?

Yah, I thought it may be around 10 hp with my meager mods. I wish I could find a good deal on a catback exhaust. Can't see spending $1500 (1K exhaust 500 chip) for 5-10 hp more.

Thanks for the reply.

Default weight gain

Yah, I got the Nido's with bbs style mesh, polished lip, and forged rim 27 lbs. Got for $200 a piece...couldn't stretch for some OZ Ultraleggera or BBS CH/Ck's. I actually have Enkie GF1's that came with car...very light 20 lbs but too ricey for me. I will use those as beater or track wheels, which will save about 28 lbs. At's look much better.

The TT is heavy, I may remove rear seat and get an exhuast if I can find a smoking deal on one. British pound is super low vs dollar, so a deal might pop up. The 3.2 front rotor must weight ALOT...a lightweight rotor may offset the wheels weight.

Default good list

Yah, that's a good list. Already got Enkie GF1's that came with car for racing wheels...but they are too ricey for everday driving.

Let's see...$500 chip, put on my ugly wheels, and I got better acceleration. Car is already quick and sounds great. Was passing on hwy today and DSG shifts down and redlines at 6800 rpms...sounded great. 60-85 was quick.

The front rotors looked new when I bought car. Rears were toast so I upgraded them to slotted. A lightweight 332mm rotor would be a good mod.

Default The downside to a lightweight rotor...

Brakes turn the kinetic energy of your heavy TT into heat energy via friction. The rotor's job is to absorb and dissipate that heat. The more metal there is, the more heat can be absorbed before the brakes stop working. Less weight generally means less metal and therefore less heat absorption. As long as all the weight savings is from the hat rather than the rotor itself, that disadvantage would be mitigated. But that's some pretty serious money too. Light wheels would likely be cheaper.

How do you like the FSDs? I still need to have mine installed.

Default A chip on a turbo engine can realize 10-15% gains realisitically-

Even the meager 180 can make 230 hp and really good tq (~250 lbs-ft IIRC). NA cars a re MUCH harder to 'do simple'. Dr. Mod (TTschwing) knows whereof he speaks: he's spent years doing engine testing with monitors, mods, and corks!

Default If you want REAL power, talk to sonofhss (Bob): his MesserschmiTT is monstrous!

I've driven it several times: HPA turns that thing into a 930 without bad habits! Smooth pull, incredibly quick, and a "YeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaa!" to drive. But it does take a few US$$$$.
