Default I Give up! maybe

OK so I knocked myself out Saturday and Sunday...cleaning the interiors. And then on Sunday,,wash, claybar, dry--all with brand new microfiber...then trying mguirs number 9 on rear driver fender above wheel.....

first white foam pad, not good

then yellow, still not enough

then wool....ok maybe this will work.....looks better maybe though by this time its getting dark'

so whole car with wool pad and mguirs 9, wiping with water/iso mix...then after number 5 zaino with accelerator...and finally zaino number 6....

and i think, at around 11:30 with tools away, cloths soaking, pads washed...off to bed thinking it looks good..even in the early morning light this am

then this afternoon in the harsh vegas sun...dammit still f'n swirl marks.....yes they're better than before. but dammit what does it take?

I just dont know if im willing to go to the next type of machine (I forget what its called--the non- random orbital) for compounding and god forbid I try wet sanding....Im pretty realistic about my abilities

ive calmed down now but for a while today i was thinking screw it, im gonna sell the dam thing to someone without a family, get myself a 4-wheel drive crew cab white truck that I can run through the friggin car wash and forget about it.....anyway...here's last nights pics

I have a bunch more pics but somethings wrong with my internet connection and its taking forever to upload them

Default That sucks.

One question, is it necessary to wax after clay barring? Or can you just clay bar and be done with it?

Clay bar removes everything, including wax, so you definetly should wax afterward.

Default I prefer stages. Saves the sanity.

Wash, clay (use Griot's Speed Shine myself) by hand, fine hand polish (this works, but don't try to do all of it at once), cleaning wax/polish (Klasse) for two passes, Klasse stage two, then Griot's carnauba to finish off. See you in 6 months. What kills is spending the whole weekend without the success you want. Do it in stages and prep the car over a couple of easy Saturday mornings with a good baseball game on. When I got my 3.2 from the dealer I was PO'd at the lack of finishing by their "detailer". There's no way they would've displayed a car like that on the floor. I was damned if I was gonna let 'em go over it again. How do you get water spots inside the windshield? Stages save sanity.

if the yellow pad isn't enough, go to a professional. NEVER use wool

Default I use any claybar, then Menzerna Final Polish followed by P21 carnuba wax.

on dark cars, the swirls show up more...but the menzerna gets it all out. i usually use menzerna once or twice a year using a Porter and Cable 7424 orbital 6".

Why not just let pro detailers handle it?

Default Give up...can't get rid of the swirl marks on any car

unless you do the wet sanding stuff.

The swirl marks are there on all cars, but is less visible on light colored cars. On dark colored cars like ours (I have a black car), the swirl marks are going to be visible no matter what you do.
