Basically from what I've heard the iPod is *the* mp3 player. Everything else I've read reviews
on compare the other players to the iPod, but they always fall short.
I don't know about that one specifically. Is that an iRiver? I bought my girlfriend one of their portable CD-MP3 players a few years ago, thing works great. I like it enough to consider the brand again, but if I really wanted an MP3 player I'd probably go for an iPod or iPod mini.

I think it might be the iriver...The battery life is 16hrs and has fm radio also...I just have read
where the ipod battery sucks. I know people have mounted them and look great but wondering also when want to take it out of the car. when spending the money want it to be versitle also.

there are a *few* things about the iPod that i don't like... however...
there are so many things about it that i love.
mine went to europe with me. twice.
even on the trip where i forgot my power adapter (like a complete and total retard), it lasted long enough to see me home.
basically, you get 10 hours of play time with the backlight off, and about 8 with it on.
iTunes is a great program, and it makes life pretty easy. i ABHOR, however, the difficulty in transferring things from the iPod back to the computer. that SUCKS, 100%. if there's an easy way to do it, i have no idea what it is.
with the recent price break, i really don't think you can go wrong.

I've owned 4 MP3 players - Ipod is without a doubt the best....
I've owned Compaq PA-1, eDigital Odysey 1000, original iPOD, and now 30 Gb iPOD.
The Compaq was a nice little unit that worked off a SD card. It was not a very strong unit and ate batteries.
The Odysey, is now rebadged and sold by Gateway, was very nice but clunky, and while I had one of the first ones, it had some bugs. I returned it.
I bought a close out on the original iPOD from Target, only to find Apple introduces the new iPOD 28 days later. Apple took my old iPOD in on a full trade (at the OEM retail price), and then took 10% off the new one for my wife's educational discount. Sweet deal. I bought 2 more for my kids just like this.
I would suggest the 20gb iPOD since it is thinner than the 40gb models. Mine is 30gb and there is no way I will ever fill it up.
Go to ipodlounge.com and you can see what folks are saying about their ipods and what issues they have. The biggest issue now is the longevity of the battery.

Use EphPod to bring things back to the computer from the iPOD.
Use the url below for all things related to the ipod. Just truncate parts of the url to get you to the home page.
This is a very useful site for ipod users. iPODlounge.com is to ipod owners what this site is to TT owners.

http://www.ipodlounge.com/downloads_windows.php</a

Chris...Here's the solution...>>
Inexpensive software program that makes file transfer painless. I had the same issues with my Dell Jukebox after my recent hard drive crash....No way to get the MP3's back into the computer. Looks like this little jewel does it easily. I'm getting it today!....

http://www.redchairsoftware.com</a
