Default Get a dual receptacle power source at local auto store and hardwire/mount beneath ashtray...

then ashtray can stay closed for a much cleaner dash arrangement and you have TWO power sources for cell and radar.

Nah, it doesn't look good at all. I considered hardwire but the Passport 8500 I use has the mute button on the cigarette adapter and don't think it would be cool to get rid of it. The best idea would be to have another outlet somewhere

You can get a hardwire "Smartcord" that has a mute button/alarm light, which you can mount wherever

Default Phone line with a cigar lighter on one end...

Just plug it into the Rj45 outlet near the cupholder.
