Default Have you considered trading your car in...

for the coupe? This assumes that the coupe is at a dealer. This move would save you quite a bit in taxes because you are only taxed on the difference.

You may lose a little in the process as dealers are in the biz of making $. But educate yourself on the values of both cars. Go to your bank and ask to look at their copy of the NADA or Kelly books. Those books are aranged in columns, average loan, average trade-in and average retail (lowest to highest). Price both your cars, don't forget the 'adjustments' (accessories, miles, etc.).

The dealer will try to give you less than average loan for your car and make you pay average retail for his. Using your numbers, let him know that this should be a 1 for 1 trade ( I would think that they are pretty equal in price). Tell the dealer that you know he deserves to make some money on his car, so you are willing to trade your car plus, say $500.

I hope this helps. Yes, I used to sell cars. ;-)

Manual top - easier, faster, no need to worry about motor IMO

gray leather seats(no wear no tear)

current 39k miles.
clear protectant films everywhere so body is super clean.

i don't know what else. i guess rest is all TT-standards.

i have about 10 people who are lined up to buy my car at $16500+.

Default 180 vs 225 = no brainer

Sure you can chip the car and make it faster than a stock 225. A chipped 180 isn't really going to compare very favorably to the chipped 225. With other mods, you may get the 180 up around 250 horses, but the 225 can be made to approach 290 without too much trouble.
Now, as for the coupe vs convertible debate, well, looking at my sig will indicate my stance on that issue...

Default so mileage isn't much of an issue in this case you think?

i like everything about the new TT I have found except the fact that it has higher mileage and it's not convertible. i wasn't really into convertibles until i drove one. I think convertibles are really fun to drive and a great option to have.

but i'm willing to let go of that at the cost of quattro and all other performance issues(and warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

so.... 10k mile different won't make much difference huh?

Well, you'll be 10k closer to the AW recommended 60k timing belt change. I think there are pple here with well over 100k on their cars, so I'd say that 39k isn't that bad. I personally have an '01 with 31k, and I plan on putting at least 100k on it before I get rid of it.
