Re: Instructions: How to Adjust Xenon Headlight Range using a VAG-COM
I hope someone else has been through this. I had my car lowered using HR coilovers. Everything was fine until I had a slight fender bender which resulted in a replaced headlamp. The auto leveling headlights had to be reset by the dealer for the error to go away.
The dealer told me they couldn't reset it because of the lowering. They eventually called AOA who gave them a code to get the auto leveling into 'Basic settings' mode. All fine, $180 later.
Now my problem is the exact reverse, I took off the coilovers - now I have the auto level light in my dash again. I bought a VAG (HEX COM) because I figured I would rather have the tool than pay the dealer again.
Alas, I can't get the lights to go into 'Basic settings' mode. Everything else works fine with my VAG-COM and laptop - I guess I can just go back to the dealer, but that isn't my first choice.
Any help out there?

Re: Instructions: How to Adjust Xenon Headlight Range using a VAG-COM
Heyas,
Well I managed to re-code the value and set the headlights to a good level on my car, but I can't seem to get it to go into Basic Settings. When I click on Basic Settings and scroll up to 001, I get an Error saying that group 001 is not available :-(
The module was coded strangely - in that the soft coding was actually 00001, and the workshop code was a -six- figure number. In order to recode, I changed the workshop code to a five digit number (removing the 1 at the start), and set the soft coding to 00040. The height of the lights is now perfect (previously it was -very- short, like 3 metres in front of the car), but I have the warning light for auto-levelling lights.
When I look in the error codes it says that they haven't been initialised, and also that there are intermittent implausible readings from the speed sensor. When driving (my wife drives) and monitoring, I can indeed see the speed sensor returning 306km/h, which isn't really realistic!
Any help would be really appreciated :-)
Thanks,
-simon

You cannot adjust your xenons with the vag...the "Recode - 07" is used to specify what type of vehicle you have to the control module
B5 S4 Quattro's - should specify "00004"
Here's the table of AVAILABLE options according to the Krauts
55 - Xenon headlamps (lyslængderegulering)] ->
[07 - Kodning] -> [07 - Coding] ->
00001 = A3 forhjulstræk 00001 = A3 front wheel drive
00002 = A3/S3 4-hjulstræk 00002 = A3/S3 4-wheel drive
00003 = A4 Limousine/Avant forhjulstræk 00003 = A4 Sedan / Avant front wheel drive
00004 = A4/S4 Limousine/Avant 4-hjulstræk 00004 = A4/S4 Sedan / Avant 4-wheel drive
00005 = A6 Limousine/Avant forhjulstræk 00005 = A6 Sedan / Avant front wheel drive
00006 = A6 Limousine/Avant 4-hjulstræk 00006 = A6 Sedan / Avant 4-wheel drive
00007 = A8 forhjulstræk 00007 = A8 front wheel drive
00008 = A8/S8 4-hjulstræk 00008 = A8/S8 4-wheel drive
