Default Insurance rates

I just got my insurance bill and it went up $200 for a six months period.

I have no accidents or tickets reported to the insurance company, years of accident free driving and I'm 32 years old.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of increase of their insurance. I'm in Austin, TX and the ins. company is Allstate.

Thanks,

Otmar

Well, there's your problem, instead of "good hands", they give you one finger!

Default Many insurance companies adjusted their rates on TTs over the last year. The rating changed due to..

repair frequency and expense history overall.

Default State Farm raised the rate on my TTR by 12% last month.

My insurance agent said it was because the State of Texas recently released their first "rating number" for the TT. All insurance companies in the State are required to use this multiplier when setting premiums. Up until now insurers in Texas had been establishing premiums based on the value (price) of the car because it was too new to have a calculable accident/repair history. Turns out the TT is pretty expensive to fix so that accounts for the higher premiums.

My insurance rate with Farmers is the same for the '01 225 Coupe as it was for a '99 V6 Camaro.
