Internal Motion Sensor
A lot of testing in the driveway hasn't shed any light on this as well.
Anybody have any suggestions, or do I just have a bum sensor?
There was someone on the list who posted such a question prior - but I couldnt find it a second ago in the archives - it was a bit ago!
Anyhow, not speaking from expereince, but from what i recall being said, try putting the key in, turn it to the ON position, and then hit the button once. Then turn the car off. It should be ok!
Later,
Ari
*Note: ON doesnt mean START the car.. just turn the key ALL the way, without clutching in for starting it! Hope oyu got that..
I printed all the responses and went out and tried them, and it looks like TToby was right. You need to have the door opened to set it (no key in car, or running, etc), BUT the LED eventually shuts off.
I love this car, and maybe it's because every other feature in the car is so well thought out, but this has to be the lamest implemetation of a motion sensor that I have ever seen! Thank God it's only a small item in compared to a fantastic car...

the cheap fix is to tape over the grill so the sensor cannot detect any pressure changes. Car starts every time, and it costs nothing.
You can also have a mechanic pull the codes an set the sensor to minimum sensitivity.
The dealer wanted to replace both the console buttons and the sensor itself to the tune of $1k +. Grrr....
