issues related to the new rotors...

I am getting grinding from the outboard edge of the MK IV brake carrier used with this ECS stage I rotor.
Shims are mentioned on the ECS site but my guess is Russ didn't use them since they were not included. I am hoping that .5 to a 1 mm shim placed where shown tomorrow will solve the centering issue for the caliper carrier.
There was a small amount of marring on the inside edge of the rotor from when I backed it down the driveway this morning - I trust that wont need machining. ;-/

I have said before that I am not a fan of ECS parts....
And you may recall that Schwing and I used to make jokes about their 'precision spacers' (re. washers).
Really, I think they put just enough research into things to sell parts, without any real concern for customer satisfaction.
Perhaps they will respond to your thread, and I'll eat all sorts of crow.
I'd much rather eat crow than have you deal with all the ish that I have, Bob.
Seriously, bring on the crow.

Russ...
I must have missed the shims in the package. And my wife has been loose with the garage so I am uncertain in finding them in the original shipping materials.
does my location (as shown in the photo) for where the shim need to go match with your experience? And if so, what size did you use. It seems a stainless washer will achieve the desired effect. (yes... other reccomendations for shim material?)
I am out to search the garbage again. thanks - bob

That should do it Bob >
Mine - not ECS, of course - came with shims; not all that unusual. You can see them in the first pic:

Here you can see the shims from the picture installed between the new bracket and the new caliper (not referring to the washers, of course); different setup, but the princple's the same - and fwiw, they are real shims, machined - not washers; I suspect yours are as well; hope this helps.

good to see this is not the only setup with some tweaking needed...
lol
any concerns that the bolt that is shown in the picture (with the socket wrench on it) could possibly back out into the rotor? (I know it is highly unlikley - but it was a design issue that was bugging us when we installed)

Easy for you to say! >

A lot of them do - I remember Joe@vwvortex saying he had some fitment issues with his alcon rears, for instance. Does the bolt seat into a lock of any type, or is pinned or wired? If not, red loc-tite; might see some on there now. My Wilwood bridge bolts just use a locking nut on the inside - no lock washer or anything, but of course not at all the same circumstance (btw - just swapped the pads back to ceramics in about 5 minutes today - that is an advantage of these...).
