Default I've seen several auto details recommend "Bon Ami" powdered cleaner

It's scratch free and also gets all the crud and any car wash-type "waxes" of your windshield so that the wipers work again...

Default err maybe only on the windshield...

...but other than that I'm skeptical.

Default Me too. Maybe on an old windshield. Be scared to put something you use on an old bathtub on my TT's

glass. Heck, maybe it works, who knows.

Hmm... no idea why this didn't show up under the "water spots on windshield" thread as intended...

Me either. I've noticed a few posts today that didn't go under their threads...

Default Bon Ami (only) absolutely works on glass. Recommended by GM...

in Corvette owner's manual(for outside of windshield). Even has GM part number 1050011.
Have used it for years. Wash car afterward.

Default As in the thread below ...

I tried Kit Scratch Out and if I really worked hard could get the spots out. Recommend using an orbital buffer as otherwise it will take some time. After consulting with my dealer who uses steel wool I thought screw that, getting rust stains all over my car and tried rubbing the Scratch Out really hard. I had more success but it still is a lot of work. The glass does come out really smooth though. I would not resort to any harder abrasives that may scratch or anything that may leave detergent residue on your paint.

Default That's what was used in old car crankcases from a show I watched!
