Just ordered some memory from crucial
two 128MB, unbuffered, non EEC, 168pin DIMM
whoohooo no more lockups lol... Next i'll be looking for a secondary hard drive.... questions on that
What size hard drive? 13.6 7200rpm? my current is a 13.6 5400rpm drive...
which one should be the main hard drive? the faster one? I'd use the secondary for photoshop and other misc programs that I dont normally use that are just taking up space
how much does a HD usually run? Does it have to be matched to my system?
thanks guys!!! no more lockups and slow programs for me!

Drives are cheap. Tell us your budget.
Here is a 30GB 7200 RPM Maxtor. I have a 23GB 7200 RPM Maxtor and it has been a good drive. In the past I had a hard time recommending Maxtor, but they have turned around, I hear.
Otherwise, the fastest drive should be your primary, as the operating system runs on that.

Best Buy 30 GB Maxtor

Also, do you know if your HD controller supports ATA/33 ATA/66 or ATA/100?
These are transfer rates between the computer bus and hard drive and the higher numbers make a big difference.
Just to confuse things a little.

Re: Crucial are some of the best memories. Very good for overclocking your PC...
Regarding hd's, ATA66/100 also require a special hd cable. You can tell if your HD is setup for ATA66/100 by the BIOS bootup msg'ing indicating UDMA4/5 mode for the drives.

I got a 7200rpm 20 GB Quantum HD with ATA/66 card here about a year ago for less than $200....
It's my secondary, since I didn't want to rebuild the OS etc. It's used exclusively for digital editing, and I defrag it frequently. No problems to report.

http://www.dirtcheapdrives.com</a
