Default Just replaced the center support bearing on a 2001 Audi TT .... issues.

When I pulled it out, the center support bearing was broken up and obviously had a lot of play in it. Well after replacing it, are you supposed to rebalance the driveshaft? because I'm the same symptoms, just not as violent, as before. You can hear something hitting the underside of the car when accelerating above 40mph. Hmmm

Default Re: more details... you're saying from the 6 speed to haldex? what...

from the beginning. 2001 Audi TT 225 6spd

out of the blue the TT starting getting a vibration coming from underneath the car. It progressively got worse and worse. After a while, you couldn't drive the car above 40mph because it sounded like someone was beating on the underside of the car. Put it up on the lift and lo and behold there is play in the driveshaft support. So I go in there and remove everything off, (I DIDN'T MARK THE DRIVESHAFT TO REALIGN IT BACK EXACTLY AS IT CAME OFF, DOH!!) and pull of the rear portion of the driveshaft, pull it apart, replace the support bearing and bolt it all back together. Now, it works better but still having similar symptoms. Do i need to pull it again and balance/straighten the driveshaft? or what?

Default Probably have the shaft out of phase

theres a certain location where the shaft should index in and eliminate any vibes due to the joint being outta phase.
