K03 vs K03S vs K04-001
Whats the difference between them. Is k04-001 much better than K03S? How much better is the K03S from the K03? I am thinking of replacing the excisting K03 from my 180hp tuned motor with the K0????? what???

AFAIK the K03-S won't do much for you. It only has greater tuning potentials than the simple K03 (delivering the same power though), but I guess it's not worth the swap. The K04 I believe includes a lot more stuff to go with the installation, so why wouldn't you just put a bigger turbo than that?

Thanks, TTear, I don't know much about K04 swaps, but...>>
1. The differences mainly have to do with the sizes of their inlet and exhaust turbine wheels, K03 being the smallest, then K03s, then K04 the largest out of the group you mentioned. The K03s is supposed to be essentially ahybrid of the K03 and K04 turbos. There are others here who've done the installation who know more.
2. No, it's not much better - it's an incremental difference.
3. Same aain - an incremental difference. After all, Audi used both, to produce 180hp cars. Supposedly, you can't push peak power as far with a K03 as you can with a K03s, which I think TTear said. So a K03s will let you get somewhat further if you ae going to be modding with bolt -ons that will add to boost.
4. If you are going from a K03, the biggest improvement you'll get with one out of the group of turbos you mentioned is the K04. It is a big job, but not because you need alot of extra stuff, I don't think. Check user ArTT Vandelay's post with instructions on his
K04 swap. If you wanted to use the K04-020 series, off the 225TT, THAT would be more complicated and involve replacing a number of anicllary components I guess, though the payoff is higher since that is a bigger unit than a K04-01.
