Default LarryTT -- paint chips (talked to dealer last night)

Larry, and anyone else who cares, I had my car in the dealership to get sway bar bushings replaced, and I also brought up the paint fading I am having on my fender, and also brought up how my TT, with 1/3rd the mileage and 1.5" higher off the ground than my 911, would have 3 times as many rock chips.

So far, it is actually progressing better than I'd hoped. Rather than saying "Uh, that's the way it is, deal with it", they have put the wheels into motion to get the regional AoA guy out to the dealership at a mutually convenient time (for me and him) so we can both be there. So, we'll see. I'll keep you posted of any news, and this is mainly pertaining to my paint fading/discoloration, but the chip thing will be brought up as well.

i think brilliant black is more prone to rock chips and pitts. because it looks like under the clear coat and black paint is white primer, so the contrast shows up more than other color TTs.

i have to park in a lot when i go into NYC, and the parking attendents always go by feel when they back into other cars. unfortunately, when the rear bumper kisses the car behind it, it usually touches the license plate screws and grinds a divet into the clean TT painted bumper. so i have several white circles from the bolt heads. ouch.

Default I've actually asked...

the dealer if Audi is using a more brittle paint on the TT because mine suffers from the same chipping on the front "bumper". Met with a blank. non-committal stare. Keep us posted.

Default AoA paid to respray my bumper and mirrors

The chipping was so bad at 47 miles that the dealership basically told me that if AoA wouldn't pay for it, they would.

It took a couple of weeks to get the car in, but since I have had it back, it hasn't chipped any more than one would expect. (I am at 9500miles now).
