Loss of power and code 17536...what does it all mean???

17536 Long Term Fuel Trim Mult System too lean Bank 1

Once I got the code it was 35-10 intermittent
2nd time it was 35-00

Anything obvious I need to check like my Bailey...could it be a boost leak(wouldn't that return a RICH code)

Car feels stock right now and its killing me!!

Actually, that code means...

A UFO hovered over your TT. Aliens from another galaxy disabled your car while rendering you unconscious. Then, you were transported to the mother ship, where you were "probed".

Finally, your memory of the incident was erased and you were returned to your TT where power was restored. That fault code is the only evidence (other than a sore bum) that the incident actually occurred!

I think that means it's running rich.

Can't trim any leaner. I usually get things back asswards though.

Came across the same problem on the Vag-Com site...

Their explanation is a bad MAF sensor causing the "system too lean" DTC. The explanation went on to say you should fire up your engine, go into engine electonics, measuring block 08, read channel 032. Fields #1 and #2 should read 0.0%. Specs say that you can go +/-5% from 0.0%. If the MAF sensor is bad, the reading, apparently, will be way outside the target value. Responder was guessing 25%.
