My manual recommends 5-40. 0-40 came out after the manual was printed.
The 0 implies faster flow at room temp, and better lubrication on startup. Again, it's hair splitting if you're using synthetic.
Some manufacturers are moving toward 5-20 to reduce viscosity and improve gas mileage. The modern oils don't break down very fast, so it's safer to reduce the viscosity.
