Default MAF element bolts...

Hello all, I ordered the VW MAF (06A-906-461-A) to replace the MAF on the TT but need to keep my original housing... Does any one know what kind of bolts those are, and how to take them out? At least the name to find the right tool... Appreciate the help...

Default I'm told they are anti-tamper bolts and seems a tool is non-existent

outside of a VW/Audi shop.... you can take them off with a plier gripping it sideways on the screw head.

Default You'll probably not be able to get...>

The high security Torx bit that is used. Just use pliers or vice grips on the shoulder of the screws. It's a very coarse thread, so once they start they'll come out easily. Replace with 3/4" #8 Phillips head sheet metal screws or something similar.

Yeah, what Steve VVVV (see below) said since he's the one who originally told me!

Default I purchased a set of security torx bits... Murphy's law.. The size I needed wasn't in the set

odd, though, there was a slot in the case for the next size up (the one I needed).. The # of tools in the case was correct...

Like Steve said, I used vice grips and threw them away

Default I hate those.

I killed mine when I put the **** in. The screws you use are a much better idea.

Default Find a cheap set of "Security bits", attack one with a grinder

this "modded" bit slips over the center post in the middle of the head, and into the slots near the edge. Works great.

Default Get some 8x32..>>

Knurl heads...1/2" long. No need to even re-thread. They'll screw right in to the stock MAF housing..
