Default Ok, I'll be the dissenter. I found 0w40 to burn off; so I stuck with 5w40

Valvoline synthetic, whatever the brand name is. I had a similar problem in my previous ride, a '99 New Beetle with a slight propensity for oil consumption--it liked to go through Mobil1 but didn't use my Castrol or Valvoline 5w40. So that's what I stick with.

I use about half quart 5000k miles with 0w-40. Dynamic oil change !

Default which means you can use longer drain intervals (actually true.. >> )

Mercedes Benz did an engineering study several years back about extended drain intervals and they concluded that topping up the oil had the added benefit of replacing lost additives and actually allowed longer drain intervals (and they were playing in the neighborhood of 15-25k miles.)

So I supposed adding between changes does have its positive side

figured as much, i top off every 1000 up to my oil change at 4000ish
