more on the "2000 quattro tt nhtsa recall"...
while there is a recall campaign listed for those quattro tt's manufactured between 9/98-3/00 on the nhtsa web site (www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls)
according to audi client relations (800-822-2834), they have not been notified by the nhtsa of any action. according to audi client relations, if they are so notified, those of us with affected tt's will be notified by mail.
any thoughts?

One would think...
that if it's on the NHTSA site that Audi should be aware of it. And, if they are aware of it then they should start getting pro-active about it.
I think this may be their problem in general...they will not fix things until someone MAKES them fix them. They should get ahead of their problems and avoid the bad publicity.

Chill.........I seriously doubt that Audi is IGNORING the NHTSA....
Or ignoring us. I think BillK is right that they are stockpiling the parts before I start sending out letters to people. So stop bad mouthing AoA

not bad mouthing them, jason...i was surprised by the lack of information they had...
to give the folks who call on audi's client relations line...plus, it's now more than 60 days since the recall was issued by nhtsa -- so it's not like they should be surprised.
i was hoping to get as a response something like:
"yes, the nhtsa has issued a recall and you will be receiving information shortly about how it affects you..."
i was disapointed to get:
"we haven't heard a thing about it".
there is a difference.

Client relations know nothing. I bet they get the letter the sametime as we do, probably for a good
reason.
My guess would be because they don't want a wide spread panic on AoA because they hear some clicking sounds from their car. Wait until they have the parts. Keep it on the down low until they have stockpile everything and then let the public know. Smart thinking.

i'm not sure it's better than full disclosure, because people invariably find out...
as they have here...but it is a debatable point! guess we're just on opposite sides of this one, j.
