The most insane road I have encountered in the US.
North carolina from Knoxville Tennesee south on 129. Mother of god fellas..... I find out later it's called the "Dragons tail". You never go over 25mph and there is no shoulder on the inside of turns...only 1-300 feet drops..straight down. The roads not only wind but bank at the same time. No way I'd be caught driving on that in any kind of snow or ice. I was supposed to take the TT but ended up in my dads F150 instead so we could pick something up in GA. I am DEFINATELY going back in my car. It was the most beautiful country and best roads I have ever driven on..and I have been a lot of back roads winding paths. You basically drive along the edge of 2 national parks for about 2 and a half hours. Like i said just follow knoxville down on 129 through Tennesse, NC and into the North Georgia mountains. If your not winding in the mountains ike that your driving along dammed streams for miles on end with no hotels, fast food..just waterfalls coming down off the mountains fedding the streams and the winding road. It's just absolutley incredible......

Googl e maps of the hairiest part of the journey.

The dragon is world famous...
We had TT-East out there a few years back...and if you never went over 25MPH you missed a bunch, but understandable in a truck. I don't think I ever went over 70 though....:-)

http://www.tailofthedragon.com</a

We did the "Dragon" at both TT-East 2002 and 2005.
Guess you don't get to this forum much as the Dragon has been a topic of discussion many times over the years here.

AudiWorld Search: dragon

TT East 2005, at the start of the Dragon!
A phenominal stretch of road that I continue to talk about, yearn to go back, and will never forget...
