Default My clutch lets out too high...can I fix this......

Had the same deal with my A4. I don't understand why Audi makes the range of the clutch pedal so long if the action only takes place at the top end. given, mechanicaly I know nothing about cars.any info would be great. thanks

Default nothing to fix. that's how it's supposed to be. i've owned 20+

Audis MY1981-2001 and the only ones that didn't do this were ones whose clutch hydraulics were on the way out. Excluding the '84 Coupe GT I owned with a cable operated clutch, of course.

Default I dont have the same situation in my TT, but I did have a workaround for my past two A4's.....

I eventually stopped disengaging the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and simply got into the habit of only pressing down 1-1.5" during gear changes. For one, it made gear changes A LOT faster. Plus I slipped the clutch a lot less when I did this. The only downside is, it takes a lot of conditioning on your part. I currently have a little mazda I use as my daily driver and the clutch engages at the top also. So I use the same method (since I was already used to it from my previous A4) and I have no complaints. Hope this helps you out.

Default And mine engages soon after I lift the pedal from the floor...

...which I much prefer. It was odd at first, 'cause wife's Passat engages higher. But I've come to like it.
