My RioCar came in today...What are the possibilities of hooking it up as an Aux device?
I was thinking it would be nice to keep the OEM head unit for its nice display, but I would want to keep the RioCar in a place where the display is visible so I can see what is playing, etc. I'm thinking the ashtray is probably the best place for this, but will it fit there without major modification to that space? I'm planning on having it professionally installed since, well, when I have installed stereos in the past, they don't look too good. Does this sound like a good idea?
Oh yeah, one other thing, I have the OEM Nav system which talks, so I'm betting that is another thing that will make it more difficult to get rid of the OEM head unit...Does anyone know how the Nav system is wired into the speakers since it is able to talk even with the radio off?
Any diagrams or pictures I can bring into my stereo installer shop would probably help since I really doubt they've worked on a TT before.

Isn't the RioCar a full DIN style box?....
You have a problem.
If so, it ain't gonna fit in where the ash tray was.
See my post from yesterday.

Your best bet is to scrap the OEM headunit, and install the RioCar there.
But then, you risk losing the interface from the Nav, through the Head unit, to the center instrument panel display.
They are tied together.
The Nav audio, goes through the head unit, to one of the two front speakers. This is selectable through the GALA system. It and the phones audio DO NOT go throught the bose amp. This is why the Nav system can 'talk' with the radio off. It's patched directly to the speaker.
See this connector layout for a bit more clarity.

I'm also waiting as well. My rio car has 2 gb of stuff on it already. Can't wait!
You can use a BOSE background on your riocar so it looks intergrated <a href="www.riocar.org"><RioCar Forums></a>Check this site out.
As for the AUX in. I'm waiting for the testing of the mod unit from Jeff. If it works, then I can probably make the units and sell them to you guys. But I have to make sure it works before I get my factory to make anything.

The "mod unit" will allow it to be hooked up as an Aux in on the OEM head unit?
...Or is it so that you can keep the OEM head unit, install your RioCar, and keep the CD changer?
...Or is it to allow the CD changer with the RioCar installed in place of the OEM head unit?
...Or something else that I'm not thinking of?
The first I heard about this mod device was in Jeff Bipes' thread earlier today, but I wasn't real sure what it was meant to do.
