4x4 in the highway last week or so. The rim is NOT bent and still rolls true, I will be buying new shoes in a few weeks or so.

I was thinking a good wack on the bulge with a hammer on a piece of wood (to distribute the force) may solve the issue till I get the wheel re-trued. My short term fear is losing the bead on a turn... Any feedback appreciated :-)

Default Bob, I've done this a couple of times with bent rims&...

never had any issues. I took a piece of inner tube or thick rubber & whacked the spot with a 8 lb sledge.I imagine the wood can work but the rubber seemed to allow me to get the exact spot w/o damage to the wheel finish.

Default I can't give an answer as the cars were sold before I ...

needed a tire change. But basically I think this is what a tire shop will do to fix it & there is some lee-way.
