I'm looking to probably pick up either Pagid RS-19 or RS 4-4 Orange pads, just for the stock brakes. My new Stoptechs won't be ready in time for Road America, sadly.
Soo- anyone have a good source for track pads? Some place with a decent selection. ECS only seems to have Hawk Race pads... not sure I want those.
I need some new fluid too, but that's a lot easier to find.

and on a similar topic- how easy is it to change pads with stock brakes?
i know it's easy with stoptechs- you just need an allen wrench i think, easy to make quick changes at the track- but is this possible with a stock brake system, or is it a PITA? i've got some things to learn before Monday the 18th, i think!

Pretty easy Kurt>>>
the thing that is a beeotch sometimes are the rear's. It is a single piston and on worn rotors it can over-extend itself. If the rotors are worn, and there is a lip at the edge of the rotor, then you need to get a new rotor too...
You will need a c-clamp to compress the piston, or you need to gently pry the piston back...
Fronts are fairly straight forward tho...
ps...like your new sig! ;-)

I know several people who use Cobalt VR spec pads on the TT...
I don't think they have a specific fitment listed for the TT, but this is the number that one of my friends gave me for what actually fits. I've driven cars with the VR spec pads, and they are downright amazing.
CRB.VR.D555
you can get them directly from cobalt for $135.

Well, you'll need a bit more than just an Allen Wrench...Look here

Trust me, buy the caliper tool
Having just redone both pads and rotors i know you can do this with a C-clamp and a pair of Channel Locks but it is much much easier if you have the <a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&engine=225HP&model=TT&s ubmodel=Quattro&category=Braking&subcategory=Tools ">right tool</a>.
For the fronts the piston can be collapsed easily with a C-clamp.
Jeff's write-up is a good guide

Kurt, I've been using Hawk HP Plus on the stock rotors for 2 years...>>
with no problems. Several trip to the dragon and vertually no fade (after 2 trips up and down without letting them cool down, I did notice some fade.)
I also have TyrolSport's brake stiffing kit, SS brake lines and Super Blue fluid. But since you're getting StopTech's I wouldn't bother.
I will say they are a little squeely in cooler weather.
