Default New DV Install Logic >>>>

Ok I'm getting my Hyperboost DV in a few days and I want to bounce off the group my plan.

1) Rip out P.O.S. Bosch DV
2) Install new DV
3) Run car and enjoy not hearing damn hum/honk noise
4) If no CEL, then disconnect battery to reset ECU
5) Find someone with a VAG to reset the error codes for low/bad voltage

What kind of things will I need to reset on the car after the ECU memory is wiped clean? I know I will need to input the radio code, but what settings are the default (ie - remote issues, window auto up/down, etc.)?

Thanks

you don't have to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU...just unplug the ECU, wait a couple of minutes, then reconnect.

Default I had a CEL . It went away on it's own & car runs great w/ Hyperboost &...

a MAF cleaning.I believe someone told me the ECU will*store* the DTC if you disconnect the battery. Why not just drive it till someone with a Vag can clear it for you? But if you don't get a CEL wouldn't there be nothing to clear? I'm no expert just trying to understand this stuff myself.

Default ECU>>>>

by disconnecting ECU you will reset the modes dealing with engine management functions relative to how it adaptive to parameters/characteristics of engine such as the failing DV etc...will not clear other functions you noted. Using VAG or RossTech you can access specific fault codes and clear without 'wiping clean' entire ECU
I think that was your question anyway

I'll unplug the ECU. Thanks.
