New TTR Owner (long)
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/greenttr1.jpg"></center><p>I picked up my Desert Green TTR last night, after a somewhat long rant and wait, regarding delivery times from Port.
Just an amazing vehicle all around.
The people at the dealer were just as happy to see the car as I was. Lots of people gawking at it. Salesman said they had people standing by the transporter watching it being unloaded. Dealer did a very good job of prep work, and keeping the car inside afterward.
I did the checklist, and drove it before signing the paperwork. Sales guy said I was the only person he ever saw that had a checklist and a dial tire pressure gauge with them!
Of, course, I knew more about the car than he did!
The day was perfect for roadsters. Sunny, small breeze, about 75, no humidity.
My brother drove me to Rochester, to pick it up. As we were leaving, he said, "You wanna get something to eat, or just get going?" What do you think?
The drive back was through the small rolling hills of southern Minnesota, where the air is fresh, only occasional farm yard smells, but quaint small farms, acres of corn, and roads where people still know how to drive. It was hard to keep varying the speed, as the limit was 65, and everybody was at that or more, but I did make use of the 6-speed, as I swapped 5th and 6th a lot. Surprising how much torque is there in 5th and 6th. The turbo is easy to hear spooling up. No, no hum or honking. I'm anxious to get the engine covers off, to see if I can see a rev. letter. I saw the DV posts today, and know exactly where to look.
Lots of stares from the passenger side of cars passing me. Kids in minivans, turning around looking. We turned off the main road, and took a 2-lane over to my brothers home, about a 30 mile drive, again through picturesque farm and horse country.
The sun was getting closer to the horizon, and the outside temp was going down, now under 70. In my short sleeves, and my arms mostly extended, I was getting cold. Heat on! Funny, but having only owned one other convertible, a '63 Olds boat, it didn't allow for this type of comfort.
As I was now a lot more familiar with the car, and it was approaching 100 miles on the odometer (20 at purchase time), I opened it up a bit more, after slowing down. I did go past the 4K mark a bit, but not excessive. Wow! 3rd-4th, when the turbo spools, really gets you moving quickly! I didn't have to move the throttle much at all.
This thing wants to fly.
I made it home, just in time for the sun to set, and the family to see the car, and for my daughter to sit in it.
Oh, she also presented me with a series of balloons, set in my parking place in the garage. She can't wait to ride in it.
I took it out an hour later, after sundown, still with the top down, to test the Zenons. They are truly worth the investment.
Enjoy the pics. It's raining here in Minnesota today, so I'll send more after the Zaino!<p><A HREF="mailto:jbipes@mtn.org"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/bipecott.gif" BORDER=0 alt="Jeff Bipes"></a>

It's always so exciting to see one of our long-time waiters finally take delivery.
Sounds like you had perfect weather for convertible and turbo driving on that trip.
Make sure you stop for a minute or two and check back in with us.

Re: Checklist?
Could you post the checklist? I'm about to pick my TTR up and would really like some advice on what I should be looking for.
Thanks,
